Advent Activities Thus Far

Finally got advent box-type calendar up and running. It's cute AND even though I thought I was reaching with some of the activities (because of having to hurry) we have been loving it. We first went bowling on the 12th. Connor and I took the littles and it was a blast! Watching Gage use his whole body to try and get the ball to go where he wanted and Rowan making sure she did a "toe-pick" behind her each time she bowled no matter HOW she actually rolled it were highlights for sure. I bowled a 72. WITH bumpers! Professional bowling league here I come. Needless to say, my form needed some work. Perhaps I should make sure to "toe-pick". Quinlyn was the leader for most of the game until Connor scored a spare and then a strike. Moved him to the top of the board.
Sunday, we watched the Jim Carrey "Grinch". Monday night we were SUPPOSED to make sugar cookies. I had even made the dough. BUT Dave and I were in the middle of our championship Chicktionary game and couldn't pull ourselves away. Great parenting moment, huh? Tuesday I had them do a quick treasure hunt for treats. Next year this will be one thing that will be expanded and include more clues and more little treats hidden around the house. But time was short so it had to suffice. Dave and I went to the temple and to dinner for our anniversary, which is really tonight, but we knew we had too many things going on for a Wednesday night out. Tonight we DID cut out, bake, and decorate those sugar cookies and then we DingDong Ditched some plates of cookies to Sister Henrie and Sister Allen. I am telling you, watching those kids ding dong and ditch was so hilarious I wish I'd put together 20 plates! So funny. Especially when Connor picked Gage up by his armpits to help him move faster and his little legs were dangling back and forth in rhythm. And also when we were prepping them as to what to do (as Connor was probably the only kid with experience in this activity) in the car beforehand and then Dave started saying, "ok, go, go, go" and then from the backseat Connor goes, "yeah Dad, we get it, just unlock the doors." Ha hahaha.
